How to Store Harvest Soaps

In three words ... dark ... cool ... dry.

By now you have probably realized that Harvest Soaps are not like commercially produced soaps.   Since we don't compromise the ingredients to create a soothing bar of soap, we have to compromise in other areas. Unlike commercial soaps that are stripped of the moisturizing glycerin to be sold separately, we leave the glycerin where it belongs and sometimes even add more to help your skin attract extra moisture. Unfortunately, the glycerin doesn’t wait until it’s on the skin to begin moisturizing; it attracts moisture while in the bar of soap, making the bar appear to sweat when exposed to high humidity.   Therefore, we suggest that you don’t store our soaps in the bathroom where the steam will soften the bar, making it melt away faster when you start using it.

The essential oils in many of our soaps emit a luxurious natural scent of flowers, herbs, woods, or spices. It would be a shame to let such wonderful fragrances go to waste under the bathroom sink.  Many of the essential oils and herbs such as lemongrass, peppermint, lavender, cedar wood, and patchouli, have insect repelling properties.   You can store these bars in your closet to help repel moths, fleas, silver fish, dust mites and other critters. Even soaps that don’t have bug repelling properties can give your clothes a natural and delightful scent.
